The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has stated that its
credibility is still solid as a rock despite various attempts by
some section of the public to soil its reputation.
Speaking to Hello FM's King Edward this morning, the Director of
Public affairs for the Commission, Mr. Christian Owusu Parry, noted
that the Electoral Commission has earned a very good reputation
over the years for its hard work around the continent adding, the
Supreme Court decision has vindicated the commission.
Asked about reforms in future elections, Mr. Parry added that the
commission is ready to welcome any changes that will be proposed.
He also added that they as a commission are going to sit down and
assess themselves and also find ways to improve its services.
In the final verdict of the Supreme Court, one of the nine
justices, Justice Jones Victor Dotsey, granted some of the claims
made by the petitions and provided a roadmap for future
elections.
Meanwhile, lawyer James Quarshie-Idun, who represented the EC in
the just ended election dispute has indicated that the final ruling
of the nine Justices of the Supreme Court, has vindicated the
commission.
According to him, the Justices have affirmed that the EC did
nothing wrong.
